A fruit mead is also known as melomel. Adding fruit to a mead is pretty common to lending extra flavor to the mead. Raspberry is one of the most popular fruit added to a mead. The raspberry mead is so common that it earns a name of its own, which is rudamel. 

Raspberry mead’s ingredients are simple: raspberry, honey, yeast, and water. 

When choosing raspberry for mead making, it is better you go for fresh raspberry. Raspberries should be plump, dry, firm, well shaped, and uniformly colored. Avoid purchasing berries that are withered or crushed. 

Rinse raspberries gently to wash off the dust. Let them dry a bit in the air and put them in the freezer overnight. The liquid of raspberries will crystallize and break the cell wall of raspberries, which will help to release the flavor. If you don't have time to do all that work or you just don't want to wait, frozen raspberry package in the freezer of your nearby supermarket is your best friend. When pairing fruit mead with food, it’s always good to choose food has sharing ingredients, especially pairing with dessert. Try to have a raspberry jam sandwich pairing with raspberry mead.
