Hello from Jack, Oscar, and Angel at CES
Happy New Year! We hope your 2017 is off to a great start!
We just launched a brand new website with much cleaner and sleeker interface. The changes are based on what we learned from the in-depth interview of 20 of our supporters! Thank you so much for those of you who are willing to share insights with us. If you would like to participate our future interviews, please message us!
After launching the new website, we headed to CES, the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and got lots of valuable feedback from the attendees at our daily tasting events! You can check out what Mashable and TechHive think of our cider!

Manufacture: The final tune before tooling
Don’t worry, we didn’t change Alchema’s color to black. It’s just our latest working sample without the silver painting on the surface ;P
The purpose of this sample is to improve the details of the device, as explained in detail in our last update. We have started using this sample to conduct different tests, including fermentation test, seal test, and gas release test. We will share with you the results in our next update!
App: Flatten Hierarchy
We have always been testing and improving our app for better user interface and experience. In the past month, after thoroughly studying and learning from testers, we decided to change our app structure from “hamburger menu” to “tab bar”.
Reasons: In the old hamburger menu, you always need to click twice to switch to different pages of the app, while some of the functions in the menu are rarely used. With tab bar, the app hierarchy is flattened, so that you can switch easily between the frequently used functions , and you can always expand the “view more” tag to access other functions easily.
Cider recipes：Perry in action, and more
We have been searching the best way to make perry (pear cider) and pear mead. Also, we started to play with different herbs and flavors to add a twist to the basic apple cider. We found that nutmeg is great to add in the apple cider because it gives the cider more complex and wooden mouth feel in a short amount of time. Also, the nutmeg cider is among the cider samples we gave out for tasting during CES and the feedback was very positive, while some of the tasters even “Wowed” at it!
Can’t imagine how many amazing recipes we will be seeing from the Alchema community after we start shipping. If you have any brilliant recipe ideas in mind now, please let us know at the comment!
